    The last Will and Testament of James Jones Deceased
    IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN. I, James Jones of the County and Province aforesaid being sick and weak in body but in perfect sense, mind and memory, and calling to mind the uncertainty of this transitory life do make this my last Will and Testament, making null and void all other wills by me heretofore made.
    Item first I give and bequeath my soul to almighty God who gave it first to me in hopes of a Glorious Resurrection to Eternal Life and my body to be decently buried at the discretion of my executors and all my worldly estate that it has been please God to bestow upon me I that dispose of as followeth:
    VIZ. Item. I lend the Land whereon I now live and one other tract of land Lying and being on both sides of Great Lick Creek below where I now live and two Negroes George and Jeney to my dear and well beloved wife Charity Jones during her natural life and after her decease the land to be equally divided between my two youngest sons, Thomas and James Jones, and the Negroes George and Jeney and their increase to be equally divided between my six Children.
    Item I give and bequeath to my son Willie Jones all my Land lying up the creek whereon William Nichols now lives and a place known by the name of Madrys Place.
    Item my Will is that tract of land I bought of James Brassfield, and one Negro fellow named Cuffee and so much of the rest of my estate as shall be sufficient to discharge all my lawful debts shall be sold at the discretion of my executors hereafter named to discharge my said debts and after all my lawful debts is discharged the remainder of my estate to be equally divided between my six children; Mary Jones , Prissey Jones, Willis Jones, Rachel Jones, Thomas Jones and James Jones, when they come of age or marry and if either of sons should die before they come of age or marry my Will is that my said deceased son's part of the land should be equally divided between my three daughters Mary, Prissey and Rachel Jones.
    Item I mean my will is that my beloved wife shall have the use of all my estate, real and personal after my lawful debts are paid until one of my children comes of age or marries and then equal division to be made, and the child's part of that is to come of age or married to be taken out and remainder to be kept together until the next comes of age or marries and son on to the last.
    Item I mean my Will is that my daughter Prissey should put the Negroe girl named Viatt her grandfather Solomon Alston gave her into my estate and divide equally with the rest of my daughters.
    Item I give and bequeath unto my daughters Mary Jones, Prissey Jones, my son Willis Jones, my daughter Rachel Jones, my son Thomas Jones and my son James Jones all and every article of my estate before mentioned to be given to them to their heirs and assigns forever. And I do appoint my wife, Charity Jones, my brother, Edward Jones and James Alston, son of Solomon Alston, my whole and sole executors to this my last Will and Testament as witness my hand seal this tenth day of March A.D. 1775.

    The was the within last Will and Testament of James Jones, deceased, in open court duly proved by the oath of Major Pollard, a witness thereto and ordered to recorded.

    The within Will was recorded in the clerks office of Wake County in Book A and pages (113, 114, and 115) this 10 day of Sept. A.D. 1777.
