    • Avanell Prater, 92, passed away Friday, April 30, 2010.
      Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Monday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home.
      Avanell Prater was born Nov. 25, 1917, in Godley. She was one of four children born to Thomas and Myrl Whittington. Avanell was a faithful member of Castleberry Church of Christ and Lake Travis Church of Christ while in Austin.
      She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Prater, in 1960 and great-grandson, Spencer Holland, in 2008.
      Survivors: Daughters, Peggy Holland of River Oaks, Melvaree Pate of Austin and Susan Barelos and husband, John, of Clearwater, Fla.; sisters, Tommie Lasseter and Donna Smith; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
