    Notes:

    Parker, John, Private, NC Militia
Though an older man, he took part in the effort to gain independence for his many sons and home place.  With three John Parkers in an area that included Bladen, Old Dobbs and Duplin Counties, with a John in each, it is hard to determine which John each voucher in the NC Army Accounts belongs to.  A John Parker did receive a militia voucher # 168 from the Wilmington District.
John of what was to become Sampson County, was the father of a large family of boys, two of which fought for independence, Francis and William.  They were listed together in the Special census of 1784/6 as having 1010 acres to be taxed.
John the father made his will on 22 Mar 1786 and it was taken to the Sampson Court to be probated on 23 April 1800.  He left 1010 acres to the use of his wife, but did not name her.  On Feb 1806, son Nicholus with a Sessums Parker asked the court to appoint them executors for the estate of John Parker, deceased.  Source: Reveloutionary War Record Duplin/Sampson by V.L.
