879 | Sometimes presumed to have been the daughter of David Strange (1762-1841) and Eliza Eubank,66 Elizabeth Strange was born in 1792, and is reported to have had two brothers named John and David, and two sisters named Malinda and Sarah.67 Orphaned by Her Father by 1808 In 1808, Elizabeth‟s mother Elizabeth Strange née Eubank was still living, but her father apparently was not. If Elizabeth was indeed bereft of a father by 1808, then her assignment as the daughter of David Strange (1762-1841) cannot be correct. Elizabeth Strange married Sam Powell, or Samuel Powell,68 in Albemarle County, VA, on 1808/3/9,69 or 1808/3/12.70 A researcher named Linda Williams of Blue Springs, MO,71 once reported that Samuel Powell married Elizabeth Strange in Albemarle County, VA, on 1808/3/8. She further stated that the Orphans Book recorded that Samuel Powell paid a $100 Bond to become the guardian of Elizabeth Strange, daughter of Elizabeth Strange, on 1808/3/9, and that Elizabeth Strange‟s mother Elizabeth Strange was not deceased. We have other records which show that Samuel Powell and Elizabeth Strange obtained their Marriage Bond on 1806/3/9, and that they were married three days later by the Reverend Zachariah Emmerson on 1808/3/12.72 Another rather cryptic note stated “Bondsman: James Old; daughter of Elizabeth Strange,” and seems to have been a separate record pertaining to the daughter.73 Elizabeth Powell died at ninety-eight years of age (born 1792) on 1890/5/8.74 | Strange, Elizabeth (I7143)

883 | Spanish. Divorced. May never have been married although death cert. says “Mrs.”. Family story goes that the children were illigitimate. says born in Teaxs. -405 N. Taylor Street, Amarillo, Texas-Death *Aunt Martha says Minnie’s father was Spanish, not Minnie’s mother and they were not Gypsy. **I’m wondering if she was visiting her grandparents in 1860 and that’s why she’s accossiated with 2 different cesus’. She is with her grandparents 5 Aug 1860 in Macon, AL and then MAYBE back at home with Asbury 9 Sep 1860 in Montgomery. I’m not sure that Edma M and ME are the same person... I am going with the actual birth date listed on her death cert as in 1853 making Catherine Ozier her mother, not Sarah Culbreth. And I believe Marshall & JW are twins if Marhsall is a blood-Hightower. Although...all signs point to Marshall not being a true blood-Hightower unless she is/was illigitimate between a Hightower** ***29 Sept 2014-After talking with AUnt Martha again and Aunt FLo, concensus is that Minnie had the Mexican father, Beatrice & Otis had different father, possibly a Hightower. Also, that Marshall may not have even been Minnie’s biological mother, either.*** | [Mary] Edna Marshall Hightower (I2344)
