176 | Aedd Mawr Dux Cornwall Addedomarus was a king of south-eastern Britain in the late 1st century BC. His name is known only from his inscribed coins, the distribution of which seem to indicate that he was the ruler of the Trinovantes. He was the first king to produce inscribed coins north of the Thames, perhaps as early as 35 BC, although some estimates are as late as 15 BC. He seems to have moved the Trinovantian capital from Braughing in Hertfordshire to Camulodunum (Colchester, Essex). For a brief period (ca. 15-10 BC) he seems to have been supplanted by Tasciovanus of the Catuvellauni, who issued coins from Camulodunum at that time. Addedomarus then appears to have regained power and reigned until 10-5 BC, when he was succeeded by Dubnovellaunus. Addedomarus appears in later, post-Roman and medieval British Celtic genealogies and legends as Aedd Mawr (Addedo the Great).[citation needed] The Welsh Triads recall Aedd Mawr as one of the founders of Britain. Sometimes he is mentioned as Daniel from Cornwall. He rose in revolt against the Romans whom he expelled from Nantes , Guérande , Saint-Malo and Léon , and arrived until Orleanesat . He married an Irish princess and was assigned as a child: • Eric de Cornwall , • Jutherd de Cornualla, count of Rennes , • Gania, who is supposed to be the wife of Chlodio de Thérouanne, son of the king of Thérouanne , • Maxenti or Maxenci, count of Cornwall, • Budic II of Cornwall called Llydaw (which would mean Britain Armoricana in Welsh). | Aldrien Aldrin Audra (I6527)

188 | Alloway of Dog Point Inherited his estate from his father. He was recommended as a fit and proper person for the office of Colonel of the 12th Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Division, Virginia Militia, in 1826/2.7 He represented his district in the Virginia State Legislature for twenty-one years. Judging from known dates, we surmise that his military career began sometime between 1811 and 1816, and that he became a district representative to the Virginia Legislature about 1817. One record stated that he served as a captain in the War of 1812 (1812-1815). Member of the House of Delegates (M.H.D.), Virginia. This author has concluded that Gideon must have fought with Zachary Taylor (1784-1850), 12th President of the United States, because Taylor is the only person whose background could satisfy all these criteria. Gideon‟s abilities in French would have served him well d uring the Black Hawk War (1832), led by „Old Rough and Ready‟ Taylor, along the Mississippi , in a region of Illinois and Wisconsin inhabited by French frontiersmen and fur trappers. | Strange, Col. Gideon Alloway I - of Dog Point (I7000)

191 | Alloway of Upper Yadkin. Abraham built the first brick home in Caldwell County, NC, which was still standing in 1964. Abraham was a member of the Upper Yadkin Baptist Church in 1798, was listed in the 1810 Fluvanna County census, and died in Wilkes County, NC in 1815. Jonathan Boone, brother of the famous frontiersman, Daniel Boone, was ordained an elder in the same church in 1816/2. There is much confusion regarding the Alloway Strange name in records of Wilkes County, NC. At times, the name Alloway was used, at times the name Strange was used, and at times the name Alloway Strange was used. Thus, one identical person might appear as Strange in the records for any given year. The next year the same person might appear as Alloway. | Strange, Abraham Alloway of Upper Yadkin (I6989)
